The Fire Engines were a pioneering post-punk band from Edinburgh, Scotland, active from 1979 to 1981. Their debut single "Get Up And Use Me" / "Everything's Roses" (1980) earned 'Single of the Week' recognition from both NME and Sounds. Signed to Fast Product, they released innovative singles and the largely instrumental album Lubricate Your Living Room (1981). The band reunited for performances in 2004-2006 and again in 2017. Their influential sound shaped countless artists including Franz Ferdinand and The Rapture, while bands like Meat Whiplash and The Candyskins drew inspiration directly from their work, cementing The Fire Engines' legacy in post-punk history.
