Caroline 2 is the second studio album by British rock band Caroline, released on 30 May 2025 through Rough Trade Records. The album received acclaim from critics.
Background
Caroline 2 was created over the course of 18 months during several writing sessions across the United Kingdom, with most of the recording done at Big Jelly Studios in Ramsgate.[1] The album was produced by the band, with engineering by Syd Kemp, mixing by Jason Agel, and mastering by Heba Kadry. It was announced on 15 April 2025, coinciding with the release of the lead single, "Tell Me I Never Knew That", featuring American musician Caroline Polachek.[2]
Side A opens with the sprawling "Total Euphoria," setting an atmospheric tone before "Song Two" introduces layered textures. The standout "Tell Me I Never Knew That," featuring guest artist Caroline Polachek, builds emotional depth, while "When I Get Home" closes the side with reflective grace.
Side B ventures into unexpected territory with "U R UR Only Aching," a haunting meditation on connection. A daring Coldplay reinterpretation follows, bridging familiar territory with avant-garde sensibility. "Two Riders Down" and "Beautiful Ending" bring the record full circle, balancing melancholy with quiet resolution.
An essential addition for collectors of contemporary art-pop and experimental music.
